Meet Sophia

Sophia’s passion as a fundraiser comes from her Farther as he would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. From a young age Sophia was taught that education was important and has have been fortunate to be able to combine fundraising in the education sector to make a difference in the world. 

In 2009 Sophia, started working at one of the largest College in Ontario, and began to understand the power that donations can have on students. As she assisted the team in raising millions to ensure students could finish their education. Sophia then moved to a different community college where she lead a team that continues to make a different with the help of donors to transform the lives of students.

In 2015 Sophia achieved the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation and has led the AFP Toronto Chapter CFRE Refresher course. Sophia shares her knowledge and relationships building skills to create a learning environment. Sophia holds a BA in Public Administration and Governance from Ryerson University.

Sophia now serves on the Canadian Council for Advancement of Education (CCAE)’s Eduction Program Advisory Group and is a member of the Black Canadian Fundraising Collective Group.

How do you intend to use the funds?

To attend the AFP National Faculty Training Academy - Fall 2021 (4-part series). To attend the formal training for AFP's professional development to gain better teaching skills to lead the AFP Refresher course.
