Meet our Recipients
Holly Bair-Marshall is the Black Canadian Fundraisers Collective’s 2022 recipient of the Birgit Burton R.I.S.E. Fund
Meet Holly
Holly is a senior fundraiser at a national arts organization in Ottawa. She specializes in developing meaningful and lasting relationships with donors across the country to inspire major giving. She has led the fundraising efforts for the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards - Canada’s highest honour in the performing arts, and has worked on a suite of project and programming fundraising priorities, many of which focus on increasing accessibility to performances, and representation on Canada’s stages.
Complementing her professional work, Holly is very involved in the local arts and culture scene and enjoys participating on boards and at helping at community events. Holly is presently a student in Carleton University’s Masters of Philanthropy and Non-Profit program, and hopes to complete her studies in 2023.
Holly is also a mother, a wife and an aspiring house plant collector. More than anything, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.
How do you intend to use the funds?
I am currently a student at Carleton University, undertaking my Master's degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. I am excited to use this grant towards the cost of tuition, which will allow me to take more courses and complete the program more quickly. I am currently on maternity leave after having my first baby in March, so taking more courses would not have been financially possible for me at this time without this generous support. I also plan to peel off some of the funding to attend Ottawa's 2023 Fundraising Day, which will be a great opportunity to connect with colleagues while on leave.
